Thar's sumptin naaaaaasty in the potting shed!

Actually it's not nasty at all. :) These bottles once held my favourite wine, Mateus Rose (oh, is that advertising?!). Every fortnight the bottles go in the recycling bin, but I'd like to know what to do with the corks. No rude answers please!

I was thinking of carrying out an experiment by putting some at the bottom of the plant pots beneath the compost. Hopefully, they will absorb and hold water therefore cutting down on time spent watering. I'll let you know how well it works, if it works at all. Does anyone have any other ideas for possible uses?

  1. I've been wondering what to do with wine corks as well. Check out this site for some ideas:

They have some great ideas as well as places to recycle them. Who knew? :)

  2. Thank you very much SF! There's a lot of information there and loads of great ideas. :) I quite fancy making a pin board with mine.... somewhere to put all the bits of paper with notes, appointments, etc. Great link, thanks. :D

  3. Mateus Rose... you are a person of impeccable taste. Bottles like that make wonderful candlesticks...

  4. Well thank you Argentum. Don't you rate the wine then? lol

I read recently that Mateus Rose was a favourite of Saddam Hussein. I'm finding that I have too much in common with dictators!

I'm following your 'not normal' blog. My heart was in my mouth as I entered until I saw Mr Bean's grin greeting me and I felt reassured..... strange that, isn't it! :O)

    Thanks for visiting. :)
