Save Our Forests!

The British Government is planning on selling off our publicly-owned forests.  Since organisations such as The National Trust, etc. will not be able to compete with property developers, the forests could end up being replaced by holiday resorts, golf courses and adventure playgrounds.  It would be an environmental disaster.

I am joining forces with the many other bloggers who have already brought this to our attention.  Act now while there is still time.  Follow the link below to sign the petition to save our ancient forests.

  1. Lesley, I'm there....I'm a good boy. Unlike baby bum faced Cameron, isn't he cute?
Highlight your link in your composer then use the wee world and chain icon paste the http address in. It will then become a click link. All the best.

  2. Hi Adrian. I know you are - I remember you posting about this a few weeks ago.

I wondered why it wouldn't come up as a live link.... I'll have another go.

Sorry I haven't replied to your message yet ..... I haven't been online much due to 'things going on'. For the first time in my life I've got high blood pressure!

"baby bum faced Cameron" Oh, I thought he was just walking backwards! :D

  4. Oh Lesley- that's terrible! They just cannot let the lands be bought up and ruined! I'm not a citizen of the U.K., but I would still like to register my outrage! Save the land! Please let me know if there is anything we Yanks can do to help.

  5. Hi John, .... I'm no computer whizz either. It's all trial and error with me. I'll try and go through what I did to make it a live link in easy steps (fingers crossed). :D

    1. Get the 38 degrees website up. Go to the address bar, which is the very wide one at the top of the screen. Right-click on their web address. This will highlight it. Now right click once and left-clic the word 'copy'.

    2. Now, go to your dashboard in your blog and click on 'edit' so you can correct the link.

    3. Your post will appear in the editing screen. Go to the 38degrees web address that you've given. Hold down the left-click and drag it over the web address. This will highlight it.

    4. At the top of your post you will see the word 'link'. Left-click on this and a little box will appear. In the box, right-click and then left-click on the word 'paste'. The web address of 38 degrees will appear. Now I think you press 'OK' and the web address will be highlighted and has become a live link.

    5. Press 'Publish' and I hope that should be it sorted.

I know the little world and chain icon that Adrian has mentioned...... I think that only appears when you make a first posting and not in the editing stage. (?)

The instructions look long but it's only because I've broken them down into steps. Let me know if you get into difficulties at any point and I'll try to help again.

  6. John, In step 1 omit the words "now right-click once."

I knew I should have read over it before posting!

  7. Deedee, thank you for your support! Our present government is doing all they can to reduce the deficit, but it's just getting ludicrous now. I'll try to find out if there are any ways support can be registered on an international basis and will get back to you. Thank you!

  8. This is just horrific Lesley, I cannot understand how thoughtless these plans are. Our forests should be protected, they are the 'lungs' of our Earth and the home to so many trees, plants, large and small animals and many living organisms.
I tried to sign the petition but it would not accept my Australian postcode, so I shall find a British postcode and hopefully that will be accepted.
Good luck I hope the petition is successful!
    xoxoxo ♡

  12. It is all very worrying. I am going to the New Forest for a few days tomorrow so it will be interesting to see how people are reacting to the sell off down there.

  13. Enjoy your stay Helen. Let us know what they think about it.

  14. What will our children and their children inherit from the earth if nature continues to be lost?
I tried to sign, too, but my postal code was not accepted. I'm not sure using a false code is a good idea. Here in the US, online petitions are less than worthless; not sure about elsewhere in the world, but if the UK government deems them significant, they might randomly check names and addresses. If any were found falsified, they may dismiss more than those - they may dismiss a corresponding percentage...or even wipe the list completely away.

  15. Yes, looking at it like that Ethelmae, you're probably right.... not such a good idea after all as it could jeopardise the whole thing. Thanks for pointing that out. :)
